Samsung Family Square shutting down next week

Samsung Family Square going down on October 22
Samsung Family Square going down
Samsung has shut down services in the past and will surely do the same in the future, so the fact that Family Square is going down is nothing out of this world. This app came with the 18.4-inch Galaxy View and its goal was to enable users to put images on a virtual wall, including from other devices connected to the local network.

Samsung Family Square might be an excellent piece of code and some people might enjoy it, but the truth seems to be that there are simply not enough users to make it worth keeping around. Although there is no official reason, Samsung has just confirmed that Family Square will go down for good next month.

If Family Square does not sound familiar to you it is most likely because this app came with the 18.4-inch Samsung Galaxy View and that massive slate failed to become as popular as its smaller siblings. The purpose of this app is to turn the generous display of the Galaxy View into a virtual wall, also allowing to share images on the wall from various devices that can connect to the same local network.

The conclusion is that Samsung will terminate all services related to Family Square on October 22, 2018. Until then, those using this service can — and should — backup all their Family Square content, because everything will be removed. The iOS and Android apps that can be used to share content to Family Square will be discontinued on October 22 as well.

Do we have any Family Square users around here? Will you mourn its departure?
