The Samsung Pro now comes with its most requested feature -- a backlit keyboard. In all other respects the device remains the same, but its newest feature makes it a viable alternative for users who normally buy higher end Windows or Apple notebooks.

Samsung has updated its Chromebook Pro with a backlit keyboard. Although that is the only change the company has made to the device, it addresses its most obvious shortcoming. The Chromebook Pro have been popular additions to its lineup, but this is one feature addition fans of the device will be sure to take a keen interest in.

At it heart, it is still powered by a 6th Gen Intel Core m3-6Y30 with a base frequency of 900MHz and Turbo Boost to 2.2GHz.  RAM stays at 4GB while storage also remains the same at 32GB. While that might give some pause if it was powering a Windows 10 device, it is certainly still a solid processor for a Chrome OS device. Its iGPU is an Intel HD Graphics 515, which is sufficient to power its 12.3-inch high-resolution 2400 x 1600 pixel display.

Pricing also remains the same at US$599, which while on the high side for a Chrome OS device, is justified given the quality of the display, its aluminum build and now its backlit keyboard. The Chromebook Pro still also comes with built-in pen and several built-in apps that support it.
