Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 vs Mediatek Helio G80
Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2
► remove from comparison
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (SM4450) is an entry-level eight-core SoC that is the successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. It integrates a total of 8 cores divided into two clusters.
The SoC continues to rely on the same core constellation as its predecessor, but with higher clock rates. In addition to two fast Cortex-A78 cores that clock at up to 2.2 GHz, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 has six energy-saving Cortex-A55 cores that operate at a maximum of 2 GHz.
The performance is on par with the similar but older Snapdragon 695 5G, the Mediatek MT8188J and the Mediatek Dimensity 7020. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 of the next faster tier, is about 29% faster in our benchmarks (Vivo V40 Se vs Honor Pad 9).
The Adreno 613 graphics card is different to the predecessor and as the name implies - and our benchmarks show, it is slower then the Adreno 619 in the SD4 Gen 1. It supports important graphics APIs such as OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 and Vulkan 1.1. It is also capable of hardware-accelerated decoding of H.265 and VP9 data.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 can rely on the Qualcomm X61 5G modem, which supports maximum download rates of up to 2.5 GBit/s (upload: max. 900 MBit/s). Only Wi-Fi 5 is supported for WLANs and Bluetooth 5.1 is also no longer up to date. The dual ISP works with up to 12 bit and operates with a maximum resolution of 108 MPix. Quick Charge 4 is integrated as fast charging technology.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is manufactured with a structure width of 4 nm at Samsung (compared to the 6nm TSMC Process of the SD 4 Gen 1).
Mediatek Helio G80
► remove from comparison
The Mediatek Helio G80 is a mainstream ARM SoC for smartphones (mainly Android based) that was introduced in 2020. It is manufactured in a 12 nm FinFET process and integrates 8 CPU cores. Two fast ARM Cortex-A75 cores with up to 2 GHz for performance tasks and six small ARM Cortex-A55 with up to 1.8 GHz for efficiency. All eight cores can be used together thanks to Heterogeneous Multi-Processing support. The integrated GPU is a ARM Mali-G52 MC2 (MP2) with two clusters at up to 950 MHz. The SoC also integrates the HyperEngine that handles a dynamic management of CPU, GPU and memory.
The SoC integrates furthermore a LTE radio with Cat-7 (download) / Cat-13 (upload) support, Wifi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.0, LPDDR4x 1800 MHz and eMMC 5.1 storage.
