The 2024’s Strix Point and Strix Halo APUs are reported to land with a combination of a Zen 5/5c CPU and an RDNA 3.5/3+ iGPU. Per the latest information, the Strix Point APUs intended for powerful mobile devices will top out at 4 Zen 5 cores and 8 Zen 5c cores while the Strix Halo APUs are slated to get up to 16 Zen 5 cores.

AMD is expected to release Strix Point and Strix Halo APUs based on the Zen 5 CPU and RDNA 3+ GPU architectures next year. The Strix Point APUs are the more mainstream of these offerings, while the Strix Halo is reported to pack enough graphics performance to rival an RTX 4070 mobile. Courtesy of Olrak29_ on Twitter and kopite7kimi, we have some details about Strix Point and Strix Halo APUs that give weight to previous rumors.

For starters, Olrak29_ alleges that the AMD Strix Point will have four Zen 5 and eight Zen 5c cores for 12 cores, while the chiplet-based Strix Halo APU will have 16 big Zen 5 cores in 8+8 config with two CCDs. In the same thread, the leaker also reports that both the Strix Point and Strix Halo APUs will employ an RDNA 3.5 iGPU. These specs are in line with previous leaks detailing AMD Ryzen 8000 APUs.

Interestingly, Olrak replies positively to kopite7kimi’s assertion about the Phoenix 2 APUs being “an experiment for Strix Point”. The AMD Phoenix 2 APUs reportedly feature a hybrid design with Zen 4 and Zen 4c cores. So, the Phoenix 2 APU being a test run for Strix Point seems to make sense.

All in all, it appears that the Strix Point APUs will feature a monolithic design with a mix of Zen 5 and Zen 5c cores and an RDNA 3.5 iGPU. The Strix Halo APU, on the other hand, will resemble desktop Ryzen 8000 processors with a chiplet design and up to 16 full-fat Zen 5 cores by way of two CCDs.

That said, only time will tell how much of this info ends up being true, so take these leaked specifications with a grain of salt.
