Xiaomi has said next to nothing about its next smartphone release. Teased last week, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max surfaced in the week of Xiaomi launching the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in its home market. Since then, the company has remained quiet about its next Redmi Turbo device and what it has in store.
Nonetheless, it has now confirmed that a launch is imminent. Specifically, Xiaomi has outlined that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will debut on January 15. Writing on Weibo, the company claims that the device 'rewrites history' thanks to performance breakthroughs not seen on mid-range smartphones before. Whether that applies up to sub-flagships like the Xiaomi 15T (curr. $559 on Amazon) remains to be seen at this stage.
Officially, Xiaomi has not revealed anything else about the Redmi Turbo 5 Max yet. However, MediaTek has also scheduled a launch event for January 15, kicking off at 15:00 local time (07:00 UTC). Described as a 'chip surprise', the event is also said to mark the beginning of a new Dimensity 'Dual Chip Global Dominance'. As a result, leakers like Smart Pikachu assert that the two events are linked and that Xiaomi will present the Redmi Turbo 5 Max tomorrow as the first Dimensity 9500s-backed smartphone.
