Realme announces a launch date for the 9 5G and 9 5G SE
Realme may have sown a little confusion among its fans by introducing a new 9 series of Android smartphones without an actual vanilla 9 variant. However, the OEM has revealed that it will make the series complete after all, as it and a less expected SE version now have a launch date.
The OEM is currently in the process of teasing the 2 devices online by hinting at some specs in advance. They include the mention of Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G and MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoCs, although which processor goes to which 9 variant is less than clear as yet.
Then again, it is now certain that both new phones are to have 5G connectivity. Realme is thus touting them with the tag-line "The Speed of Light", a theme that goes well with their new "Fluid" finish - not to mention a potential-laden selling point for the 9 5G SE.
Realme has announced in advance that this upcoming product will have a display with an unusually high 144Hz refresh rate. This spec has patently been chosen to help the SE stand out in its "segment", likely to fall into the US$200 or less tier.
The OEM will presumably confirm or deny this projection during the 9 5G and 5G SE's debut, now set for March 10, 2022 at 12:30 IST (17:30 CET).
