Realme V5 spotted in the wild; quad-camera setup and color variants showcased
Ever since its inception in 2018, Realme has followed Xiaomi's footsteps diligently by releasing a barrage of smartphones. Some time ago, the company hinted that it was working on an entirely new line of phones. Subsequent leaks told us that the Realme V5 would be the first of its kind in Realme's newly-launched V series. Rumor has it that the phone will run MediaTek's newly-released Dimensity 720 SoC. We now have our first look at what could be the Realme V5.
The leaked images come from a Weibo post. The Realme V5 bears all the makings of a quintessential Realme device, ranging from its quad-camera array to a hole-punch camera nestled at the top-left corner of the screen. The information displayed on the phone's screen indicates that it will come with a 5,000mAh battery chargeable at 30W. It is nothing out of the ordinary, as most of Realme's offerings come with similar battery specs. Realme will likely use the Realme 6i's quad-camera array on Realme V5 as it appears to feature the same 48MP primary sensor. Much like Xiaomi, Realme is known to recycle camera hardware between devices, presumably to reduce costs.
Realme is expected to unveil the Realme V5 on August 3 in China. An international release will likely follow suit in the coming weeks. It'll be interesting to see how Realme prices the Realme V5 and subsequent V series phones as it runs the risk of undercutting the company's current offerings. One of the likely differentiating factors between the latter and Realme's existing portfolio will be a high-refresh-rate display. We can also expect to see more MediaTek Dimensity chips in the V series, including the yet-to-be-announced Dimensity 600.
