The Realme Neo 8 will be officially unveiled on Thursday, January 22. Realme has confirmed this via a series of teaser images that have been published on the Chinese social network Weibo. Accordingly, the smartphone will be available in white, purple and black. The upper third of the back panel seems to be transparent.
However, Realme has not provided a look at the internal hardware and only hints at the location of the NFC chipset that’s being used for contactless payments. The Realme Neo 8 features a square camera bump with three lenses. Although the label promotes a 120x zoom, that’s probably a combination of optical and digital zoom. Either way, the chassis is IP68 and IP69 rated and therefore waterproof.
One highlight is arguably the battery. Although the smartphone appears to be relatively slim based on the images, Honor was able to fit a battery with a capacity of 8,000mAh. Thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the smartphone further promises near-flagship performance. Combined with the 165Hz AMOLED display, the smartphone could also become an interesting option for gaming enthusiasts.
For this particular group of users, Realme offers an X-axis vibration motor and stereo speakers. On the back of the phone, there’s an infrared transmitter that allows the smartphone to be used as a remote control for compatible devices. Meanwhile, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is invisibly integrated into the display and should reliably unlock the smartphone even when the user’s fingers are wet. Further details on the specs should be confirmed during the launch on January 22.
