We all know AMD has been hitting it out of the park as evident by its skyrocketing stocks over the course of just a year. Despite the strong outlook, however, AMD continues to have a very small presence in the laptop gaming space when it comes to models powered only by AMD CPUs and GPUs. The Asus ROG Strix G15 is one of the few gaming laptops in the market at the moment with no Intel or Nvidia processors and it's currently $250 USD off the original launch price.
The configuration on sale is notable for its 8-core Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU, Radeon RX 6800M GPU, and 300 Hz 1080p IPS display. This CPU in particular is comparable to the Intel Core i7-11800H while the GPU sits comfortably in between the mobile Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 and mobile GeForce RTX 3080. A model running on equivalent chips from Intel and Nvidia would cost a few hundred dollars more than what this current sale is offering.
The main drawback to the deal, as with any AMD-powered laptop thus far, is the lack of Thunderbolt support which thankfully doesn't impact the core gaming performance of the system.
