The studio remained unaffected by the recent NetEase layoffs; the fate of its Star Wars project remains unknown as the MOBA's release date looms closer.

Game development studio Quantic Dream, known for titles such as Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Detroit: Become Human, is a French game studio based in Paris, known for its narrative-heavy, interactive storytelling, and was acquired by NetEase in 2022 as its first studio based in Europe.

Quantic Dream’s new MOBA, Spellcasters Chronicles, is a lane-based 3v3 action strategy game, very similar to Valve’s new in-development MOBA called Deadlock and Hi-Rez Studio’s Smite, choosing to go with a third-person perspective, instead of the usual top-down views like in League of Legends

Players choose from a variety of Spellcasters and must use them to advance their respective territories, or lanes. Each altar the heroes capture will allow them to produce more units to send into the oncoming enemy waves, till one wave reaches and conquers the altars. Like how towers and lanes work in Dota 2.

Would-be Spellcasters can use a variety of spells to attack opposing heroes and units, summon and aid friendly units, while engaging in intense battles to expand their territory. As the game progresses, new upgrades for abilities are unlocked, allowing players to enhance their chosen skills, like going from summoning grunts to summoning a Titan to push their lane.

Characters all have the ability to fly for an unlimited amount of time, granting them a very satisfying freedom of movement, but also adding a new layer to combat, as they’ll have to engage opposing casters in air-to-air combat.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul is an adventure game developed in 1999 and published by Eidos Interactive. The story is set in the futuristic city of Omikron on the world of Phaenon, which is suffering from a catastrophic ice age, caused by the dying of its sun. The city, split into 5 sectors, where its inhabitants are forbidden to interact with people from other sectors, is protected by a gigantic crystal dome from the world's icy environment.

Players start the game by entering a dimension, taking control of an Omikronian Policeman’s body, and resume investigating a serial killer. The game also featured David Bowie and 8 of his original songs.

Spellcasters Chronicles launches into Early Access on PC via Steam on February 26th; however, the studio is running a second closed Beta round from January 29th to the 2nd of February, and fans of the genre can request access via the game’s Steam page.
