Starfinder: Afterlight brings the popular pen-and-paper universe to PC as a rich, story-driven sci-fi RPG. With Baldur’s Gate 3 star Neil Newbon as voice director, the game aims to deliver top-tier performances and unforgettable companions.

Barcelona-based indie studio Epictellers has unveiled Starfinder: Afterlight, an ambitious cRPG set to launch soon on Kickstarter. Based on the well-known Starfinder tabletop ruleset – a sci-fi spin-off of Pathfinder – the game promises tactical, turn-based combat and a rich, story-driven experience.

Starfinder: Afterlight follows a band of outsiders who become the last hope for a world on the brink. With an isometric perspective, emotionally driven storytelling and deep companion interactions, the game clearly targets fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 – and that’s no coincidence. Neil Newbon, a standout from Larian’s RPG hit, joins the team, bringing his experience and talent to the project.

Emphasis on strong dialogue

Neil Newbon, best known for his role as Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, serves as voice director for Starfinder: Afterlight. He oversees casting and emphasizes natural dialogue and lively banter, aiming to make companions feel truly alive and emotionally engaging.

The voice cast of Starfinder: Afterlight includes notable talent such as James Alexander (Baldur’s Gate 3, Dying Light), Melissa Médina (Warframe 1999, Final Fantasy XIV), Inel Tomilson (Space Marine 2) and Fred Tatasciore (Overwatch, World of Warcraft). According to the studio, voice acting will be central to delivering an immersive experience.

Friend, foe or romance

Companions play a central role in Starfinder: Afterlight. Players are joined by six unique characters who can evolve over time, becoming allies or rivals depending on choices, and are open to romance regardless of species or gender. The developers emphasize that decisions, relationships and moral dilemmas form the core of the experience. While the game clearly takes inspiration from Baldur’s Gate 3, it seeks to establish its own identity through a rich sci-fi setting, a wide variety of races and even deeper character development.

Early Access planned for 2026

The Starfinder: Afterlight Kickstarter campaign is set to launch on October 7, 2025, and has already drawn more than 5,600 followers. If successfully funded, the game is expected to enter Early Access in 2026. It’s already listed on Steam, where players can add it to their wishlist.
