Renowned Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo is said to have left KGI Securities. Kuo has been the most reliable source for Apple rumors over the past six years that he has been employed by KGI. Unfortunately for Apple fans, Kuo is headed to another company where he will be less focused on Apple products and more so on emerging technologies and industries.
The news will no doubt music to the ears of Apple, which has long had to suffer its product plans being revealed by Kuo, well in advance of any official announcement coming out of Cupertino. Among others, Kuo accurately predicted the delay of the white iPhone 4, the inclusion of Touch ID on the iPhone 5s, some of the specifications of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and the arrival of the Apple Watch. He also correctly predicted that Apple would launch a 12-inch MacBook with Retina display and the iPhone SE.
This year, Kuo’s predictions include the launch of an all-new Apple Watch design and the arrival of three iPhone models in September, all featuring notched displays like the iPhone X. Of these, one would be a direct successor to the iPhone X with the same 5.8-inch OLED display while there will be a new Plus-sized iPhone X variant with a 6.5-inch OLED display. A third model, the "iPhone 9", would be the volume seller. Kuo predicts it will be much cheaper, and incorporate a 6.1-inch LCD panel without 3D Touch.
