Practical Accell Air USB-C and HDMI docking station works on both laptops and select Android smartphones for $99 USD
Docking stations are a dime a dozen with tons to choose from. Trying to get by without one is becoming more difficult these days as more and more Ultrabooks are shipping with fewer ports. If you can choose only one, however, then the Accell Air USB-C 4K Driver-Less dock might be worth a look.
The Accell dock integrates three USB-A 3.1 Gen. 2 ports at 10 Gbps each, one USB-C port with 87 W Power Delivery passthrough, and two HDMI ports capable of 1080p or 4K in a travel-friendly form factor requiring no dedicated AC adapter power source. Perhaps its biggest draw is that it supports MacOS, ChromeOS, Windows 10, and even Android devices to be more versatile than most other docking stations. Android users must first install the "Accell Driver-Less" app from the Google Play store in order for the dock to be recognized.
Limitations of the Accell Air include no compatibility with iPhone or iPad devices and questionable compatibility with laptops that only have USB-C Gen. 1 ports. If your laptop doesn't support DisplayPort over USB-C or Power Delivery, then all the features of the Accell dock may not work. Additionally, only a few Android devices are guaranteed to work with the dock including the Google Pixel series, Samsung Galaxy S8 and newer, Amazon Fire HD 10 2019 and a couple more. The lack of an integrated SD card reader is also a bummer since many laptops and smartphones lack the ability to read SD cards.
