The facelifted 2025 Porsche Taycan prototype has achieved an incredible 465 miles (~750 km) range in a new hypermile test by YouTube channel Out Of Spec Reviews. The test was conducted under relatively practical conditions settings, with four passengers onboard and driving at around 50 mph (~80 kmph) on highways around Los Angeles.

Details of the facelifted 2025 Porsche Taycan are yet to be released, but in a hypermile test by YouTube channel Out Of Spec Reviews, it has managed to achieve an extremely impressive 465 miles (~750 km). Speed during the test was maintained at a steady 50 mph (~80 kmph), resulting in a 4.8 mi/kWh efficiency.

To simulate somewhat realistic driving conditions, four people were on board and climate-control was kept on ECO mode at 71° F (21.5° C). The car, which had 19,300 miles on the odometer, was on Range mode with suspension lowered. There were also brief spells of rain during the nearly 10 hour drive on an expressway outside of Los Angeles. Kyle, who filmed the test, did not reveal detailed technical specs of the model used, beyond saying that it had “the big battery [likely 100 kWh, as in the new Macan], rear wheel drive and Aero wheels.”

To really appreciate this performance, we can compare it with range tests done by InsideEV, keeping in mind that those tests were conducted at 70 mph (~112 kmph) instead of 50 mph.

In terms of range, the prototype Taycan is beaten only by the 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Range, which managed 500 miles. It comes out strongly ahead of the 2022 Mercedes EQS 450+ (395 miles) and the 2022 BMW iX xDrive50 (345 miles), as well as the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid w/21" Arachnid wheels (300 miles) and the 2021 Tesla Model 3 AWD (310 miles). It even beats the 2023 Porsche Taycan RWD 93 kWh Battery (with software update), which achieved 305 miles.

In terms of average efficiency, the 2025 Taycan’s 4.8 mi/kWh outstrips all other models in these tests, with the 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition Range coming closest at 4.3 mi/kWh. Needless to say, there have been some extreme hypermile tests of the Tesla Model S 100D and Model 3 which have achieved up to a staggering 700 miles (~1126 km), but the conditions – 23.6 mph (38 kmph) on a closed test track, no air conditioning, closed windows, no passengers – can hardly be considered ‘real-world’ or practical.

The yet-to-launched 2025 Taycan has also recently made news for demolishing the Tesla Model S Plaid’s track time on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife track by an astounding 18 seconds, clocking a lap time of just 7:07.55. However, it’s likely that that variant had different specs from the one used in the hypermile test.
