Aehra Sedan: Mercedes EQS and Porsche Taycan competitor has 500 miles of range and extravagant design
An aerodynamic design plays an integral role in the development of modern electric cars, which becomes fairly obvious when taking a closer look at the most efficient EVs such as the Mercedes EQS, whose exterior appearance may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, the Italian automaker Aehra now takes a similar route as its new sedan will take some design cues from its European competitors, which also includes the Porsche Taycan.
The rear spoiler of the now-revealed Aehra Sedan arguably looks quite similar to the so-called ducktail found on the Porsche Taycan and other vehicles made by the iconic German sports car manufacturer. On the other hand, the overall body shape of the Italian EV is more reminiscent of the aforementioned Mercedes EQS. In any case, the young automaker also tries to match the other premium brands in terms of performance, as the Aehra Sedan is expected to come with 800 electric horsepower, while its huge 120-kWh battery is rumored to provide the luxury sedan with enough energy for up to 500 miles of range on a single charge.
Deliveries of this latest EV offering are expected to start in 2026 in Europe and North America, and InsideEVs further projects list prices starting at US$170,000. That would put the Aehra Sedan in the same category as the lightening-fast Porsche Taycan Turbo, which can hit the 60 mph mark in just 3 seconds. The top-trim of the Mercedes EQS, whose AMG version currently starts at roughly US$147,000 in the United States, would be another German competitor against which the Aehra Sedan will have to prove itself upon its launch in about three years’ time.
