At first glance, Lenovo gets almost everything right with the AMD model of the IdeaPad Slim 5 16. The gray chassis makes a sturdy and high-quality impression and comes with good input devices and a decent number of ports.
However, several weaknesses become apparent upon closer inspection and testing. For example, the all-rounder struggles with a limited color gamut. Just under 60% sRGB is rather low and makes content such as videos and images appear somewhat washed out.
On the other hand, the device scores points with good battery life, delivering around 10 hours of web browsing at reduced screen brightness. The moderate heat generation is another positive aspect.
The IdeaPad Slim 5 16 performs less well in terms of performance. The integrated Ryzen 5 330 suffers from weak integrated graphics in 3D applications. The Radeon 820M was unable to run almost all tested games smoothly, even at minimum details. Casual gamers will need to look elsewhere for a more powerful device. However, anyone who primarily uses the 16-inch laptop for office work and web browsing will find it be a solid companion.
