Pebble announces new smartwatch

Teaser
Pebble has revealed a smartwatch with more of a stylish design to take on Apple and Android Wear wearables.

Pebble has just announced a new smartwatch called the Pebble Time Round, and the major difference between this watch and the ones Pebble already offers is the design. According to the company, the Time Round is the lightest and thinnest smartwatch yet, at 7.5mm thick and weighing 0.99oz, and is meant to be a much more stylish alternative for those who want a great looking wearable for all occasions.

The watch will be available in two band sizes, 14mm and 20mm, and there will be three different finishes upon release. Black, silver, and rose gold are the options, and users can mix and match the finishes with different watch bands. The bands themselves will be offered in stainless steal and leather variants.

One common criticism from those who have seen the Time Round is the unusually large bezel; some feel that the bezel is a design flaw that should be made thinner. Bezel size seems to be a tough constraint for wearable manufacturers, with Motorola also receiving some backlash for the inclusion of the flat-tire design in its latest smartwatch line. In any case, Pebble seems more prepared than ever to take on Apple and Android Wear watches by offering a stylish, more premium alternative. The Pebble Time Round is set to release in November for a starting price of $249.
