Apple intros watchOS 2 and new Apple Watch Sport models
Apple announced earlier today a major software update for its Apple Watch family of smartwatches, but also a few new cases and bands for these wearables. According to the official press release, watchOS 2 is a free software update that will launch next Wednesday and "makes apps faster and more fluid by running natively on Apple Watch," but also brings other highlights.
This major software update for the Apple smartwatch comes with new watch faces, as well as communication features and Digital Touch with multiple sketch colors. On the other hand, the exterior of these smart wearables also gets updated:
- Apple Watch Sport anodized aluminum case now has gold aluminum and rose gold aluminum options, paired with fluoroelastomer Sport Bands
- Apple Watch Sport silver aluminum gets orange and blue Sport Bands
- Stainless steel Apple Watch collection now has "a variety of new bands including a two-toned Classic Buckle in black or saddle brown" ready to go
- Apple Watch Edition includes an 18-karat rose gold case
Next to the above, Apple also introduces a stainless steel case and a PRODUCT(RED) Sport Band that will help the global fight against AIDS. iOS 9 will have to be installed on the iPhone devices that connect to the smartwatch to take full advantage of the new features.
