Oppo’s wide-screen phone rumored to feature a 16:9 display and 1mm bezels

Oppo’s upcoming wide-screen phone could feature a 16:9 display with bezels measuring about 1mm on all four sides, according to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The tipster did not name the device, which is expected to be a conventional phone rather than a foldable, and earlier reports claimed Oppo would be the first Android brand to launch a wide-screen phone that does not fold.
The claimed ratio would set the phone apart from Huawei’s Pura X View, a wide-screen non-foldable handset the company announced in China in August. The Pura X View uses a 16:9.5 aspect ratio with 1.05mm bezels, according to Android Authority and Ubergizmo. A 16:9 panel is slightly taller in proportion than the Pura X View’s, which would make Oppo’s phone a little less wide in shape than Huawei’s. Both remain far wider than most current smartphones, which use ratios of about 19.5:9 to 20:9. The leaked 1mm bezels would be marginally thinner than those on the Huawei model.
The 16:9 format is also the standard for most online video and television. If the leak is accurate, landscape videos would fill the Oppo phone’s display edge to edge, while the same clips leave thin bars above and below on the Pura X View and bars on either side on taller phones. Most smartphones used 16:9 screens until 2017, when manufacturers began moving to taller 18:9 and 18.5:9 panels to fit larger displays into narrow bodies.
The figure differs from Digital Chat Station’s own earlier leak. In May, the tipster said Oppo’s wide-screen phone would have a flat display with an aspect ratio closer to 16:10 and linked the device to the Reno X name. A 16:10 panel would be wider in proportion than both the new 16:9 claim and the Pura X View.
Digital Chat Station said at the time that final specifications were yet to be determined and has not said whether the two ratios describe the same device or different prototypes. The phone is expected to launch alongside the Find N7 foldable, which is tipped for the first quarter of 2027. Oppo has not confirmed the device or any of its specifications.
