Back in October, Onyx teased a 13-inch ePaper notebook called the BOOX Note Max. The teaser revealed a few key details such as the screen type and size, the processor, RAM, and the storage. Now the BOOX site has published the full spec sheet of the E-Ink device.
The BOOX Note Max will have a 13.3-inch E Ink Carta 1300 monochrome glass display with a flat cover lens. The touch screen has a resolution of 3200 × 2400 (300 ppi) and stylus support with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity for a paper-like writing experience. The display lacks a front light, so an external light source such as a desk lamp is necessary if you intend to use it at night.
The Note Max has an unnamed 2.8GHz octa-core processor paired with BOOX Super Refresh technology for a smooth user experience. The processor is paired with 6GB of RAM and there's 128GB of storage. Sadly, it doesn't have a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
There are dual speakers and a built-in microphone but no audio jack. However, the USB-C port supports audio output. It also has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and OTG support. The BOOX Note Max runs Android 13 and owners will be able to download apps from the Google Play Store. It also has support for split-screen multitasking.
The BOOX Note Max supports WAV and MP3 audio files and several document formats including PDF, CBR, CBZ, PPT, EPUB, MOBI, DOC, and HTML. It also supports PNG, JPG, BMP, and TIFF image formats.
There's a 3,700mAh battery inside the device which is quite small compared to the 6,300mAh battery inside the BOOX Tab X which also has a 13.3-inch display. However, the BOOX Note Max is much slimmer at 4.6mm compared to the Tab X which is 6.8mm thick.
The tablet will cost $649.99 when it launches and will come with a stylus in the box. Buyers will have to purchase the keyboard case which connects via pogo pins, folio case, and stylus holder separately. They will also have to buy a charger if they don't have one.
