91mobiles has spotted early references to a OnePlus Watch 2 (curr. $279.99 on Amazon) successor, months before the smartwatch's release. For context, the OnePlus Watch 2 arrived in February and started shipping early the following month. However, its successor is already reportedly delayed to an unspecified date.
Nonetheless, OnePlus has certified what appears to be the OnePlus Watch 3 for sale with both the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) and the TÜV Rheinland. Specifically, the pair report that OnePlus has certified 'OPWWE234', which the latter confirms is a smartwatch. For reference, although neither confirm the device's retail name, its model number mirrors that of the OnePlus Watch 2, to which OnePlus assigned the model number 'OPWWE231'.
According to previous rumours, the OnePlus Watch 3 could still launch with the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset as its predecessor. Ultimately, this would be because Qualcomm has not announced a replacement option yet. Regardless, TÜV Rheinland also reports that OPWWE234 features an unchanged 500 mAh (1.95 Wh) battery. Moreover, the testing organisation states that the smartwatch was certified with a 5 Vdc/2.0 A power supply. In other words, OnePlus may bump charging wattages from 7.5 W to 10 W, a by 33% increase between generations.
