The Nubia Z60S Pro is offered at the price of a mid-range phone but sports a few flagship features, such as an IP68 rating, tri-band GNSS, and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Read our review to find out whether this makes the Nubia smartphone a recommended purchase.

If you’re looking for a killer camera phone, the photography chops of the Nubia Z60S can’t be understated at this price point. It’s a perfectly balanced (and professional) smartphone that can do it all, with only a few software issues keeping it from greatness.

Should you buy this $499 flagship then? That's a tricky one. As a package, the Nubia Z60S Pro offers a good experience, especially considering the aforementioned price tag. The thing is, you can get an OnePlus 12R for $599 or a Pixel 8a for even less. These aren't strictly better, but they're more readily available, they offer better software support, and the resell value is also much better.

It's got a big, bright screen, a slightly old-fashioned bulky build that can be both reassuring and slightly frustrating depending on your trouser pocket size, and a delightfully feature-rich and crisp camera on the back. It's more powerful than the Pixel 9, more distinctively designed than Sony or Samsung rivals and even though it's cheaper than almost all the flagships out there, I hardly noticed the difference.

I recommend the Nubia Z60S Pro to anyone who wants a great point-and-shoot camera and a mid-range phone that will get most things done. If you're not looking for a pro-level premium device, this phone is great. This phone is perfect for shutterbugs and globe-trotting travelers. You don't get a lot of the AI features or the incredible camera of the new Pixel 9. But you do get a device that is easily better than other Androids in this segment, including the OnePlus 12, thanks to Nubia's amazing cameras.

The Nubia Z60S Pro is one competent mid-ranger, and I can say that it even holds up well against some of the flagship phones I've previously reviewed and owned. Of course, you will miss out on some features, like wireless charging and an IP protection rating. But if you're the average user, you'll likely not miss these things anyway. If you compare this with the competition I've mentioned earlier, the Z60S Pro outclasses all of them in the camera department. Furthermore, this handset has the largest screen among them and has the best processor alongside the OnePlus 12R, which also uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The $569 price of the Nubia Z60S Pro makes it a truly competitive device, especially if you're into a photography.

In a horizontal comparison, the Nubia Z60S Pro doesn’t stand out in terms of configuration. However, it features two-way satellite communication, a rarity in its price range, offering a significantly superior experience. This feature alone can evoke considerable envy. The Nubia Z60S Pro’s two-way satellite communication leverages an independent satellite chip, 15 ultra-high precision antennas, and the original Lingxi antenna matrix. These components ensure seamless emergency communications, even in extreme environments without cellular network coverage. During actual use, the satellite connection responds rapidly, establishing a connection within just 10-30 seconds. The optimized interface design allows users to call for help and emergency contacts with a single click, greatly simplifying the process and saving precious time for those in urgent need of rescue.

Qualcomm Adreno 740: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 730 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and first benchmarks show that the GPU can beat the Apple A16 iGPU (previously the fastest smartphone GPU).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD 8 Gen 2: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in late 2022 with a fast prime core based on a ARM Cortex-X3 architecture clocked at up to 3.2 GHz. Two more performance cores are based on the A715 and also support only 64 bit applications. The two additional A710 cores support also 32 bit applications as do the power saving Cortex-A510 cores. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 7 modem, a Hexagon DSP (for AI acceleration) and a Spectra ISP. The integrated memory controller supports fast LPDDR5x memory with up to 4,200 MHz. 5G is included in the chip with the Snapdragon X70 modem.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.78.16%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
