Noctua finally releases the all-black NF-A12X25 G2 Chromax.Black fan for $35

Finally, Noctua, known for its incredibly reliable and high-performance PC fans, is giving PC gamers an alternative to the unappealing brown and beige fans with all-matte-black models. The company has launched the Noctua G2 Chromax.Black (NF-A12X25 G2 Chromax.Black) after fans pleaded with the company to release an updated G2 version, which hit store shelves in 2025. Each G2 Chromax.Black PWM fan is priced at $34.90, which is worth its salt.
Furthermore, Noctua is also selling a G2 Chromax.Black twin-pack for $64.90. It delivers the same top-notch performance as the brown variants but allows PC builders to skip working around the color of the OG Noctua fans.
The Chromax.Black G2 is primarily a cosmetic upgrade that fans had been asking for ages. The G2 practically raised the bar with its extensively redesigned progressive-bend impeller, centrifugal trabulator hub, blade tips with winglets, and the minute 0.5 mm tip clearance on Sterrox LCP blades, which made the original NF-A12X25 a cornerstone in the PC hardware space.
Noctua says the improvements allow better airflow and static pressure while keeping noise in check. The G2 drops temperatures by up to 3.5 degrees on radiators at the same sound level as the first-generation Noctua fans.
Roland Mossig, CEO of Noctua, stated, “The first-generation NF-A12X25 was one of the most successful Noctua fans of all time, so the G2 version had big shoes to fill. We’ve been extremely pleased with the excellent response from both customers and expert reviewers, so we’re excited to follow up with the Chromax.black variants today.”
He further continued, “The first-generation NF-A12X25 set a new benchmark for 120mm fans. We’re excited to be able to offer another significant performance boost over this renowned model. Using the same motor and aerodynamic design approach as the 14cm G2 model, the new NF-A12X25 G2 has been further refined in virtually all respects, which enables it to further push the envelope in terms of performance-to-noise efficiency.”
Featuring rock-solid SSO2 bearings, the G2 Chromax.Black fans are rated for 150,000 hours of life. They also come with an accessory bundle and the company’s usual six-year warranty.
