There's not much better than a good ebike when it comes to urban transport, and the Niu BQi-C3 Pro e-bike is an all-round package that claims to offer all the trappings of just that, thanks to good range, solid power, and a unique design with a built-in luggage rack.
The Niu BQi-C3 Pro is a step-through electric bicycle with a 750 W hub motor powered by removable dual batteries for a total of 920 Wh and a claimed range of up to 90 miles (ca. 145 km), although that will depend on the riding conditions.
The Niu BQi-C3 Pro doesn't skimp on features, either. It's equipped with a colour TFT display that displays everything from the speedometer and distance travelled to the battery and assist levels. However, the design of the BQi-C3 focusses on reliability and ease of use rather than speed or performance, with its rigid fork, rugged luggage rack, and step-through aluminium frame that's so reminiscent of Dutch bikes that flood the streets of Amsterdam.
The human power for the commuter ebike is driven by a Gates carbon belt drive for improved reliability. That is linked to a 500 W planetary geared hub motor capable of delivering 750 W of peak power in either throttle-only or pedal-assist mode. Niu claims this allows the ebike to reach a top speed of 28 mph (ca. 45 km/h). Mechanical disc brakes make sure that the ebike comes to a stop reliably, while the adjustable handlebars and seat make the ride comfortable.
The BQi-C3 Pro claims a total payload of 287 lb (ca. 130 kg), with the built-in luggage rack capable of carrying up to 66 lb (ca. 30 kilogram).
The Niu BQi-C3 Pro usually retails for $2,199.99, but a Best Buy deal has brought the price down to $1,299.98 — a 40% discount. The deal applies to all colour ways of the Niu BQi-C3 Pro ebike, which are white and red, grey and red, and matte black and red.
