Nextorage launches new USB4 portable SSD with MagSafe compatibility

Nextorage has launched a new portable storage solution, the NX-P4MG. One of the key highlights of this SSD is that it's MagSafe compatible, and the company says that it allows ProRes video recording on iPhone with support for the 4K 120 FPS mode.

Another notable highlight is the USB4 port, which makes the portable SSD offer a sequential writing speed of up to 3,600 MB/s and a 4,000 MB/s sequential reading speed. Nextorage notes that the said writing speed is only achievable on the 4 TB and 2 TB variants.

The 1 TB option, on the other hand, has a rated sequential writing speed of 3,500 MB/s. However, the sequential reading speed rating is the same for all three options. Nextorage also highlights the compact nature of the portable SSD. It's said to measure 64.3 x 12.4 x 64 mm, making it fit seamlessly on the back of an iPhone.

Nextorage's NX-P4MG is said to be durable as well. The company claims that the portable SSD has passed internal 1.1-meter drop resistance tests and complies with different vibration and shock resistance standards.

As for the price, the MagSafe-compatible Nextorage NX-P4MG is currently available in Japan, with the 1 TB model costing JPY 27,800, around $188. The 2 TB and 4 TB options cost JPY 39,800, about $269, and JPY 72,000, around $488, respectively. The company has yet to reveal when the global launch is scheduled, but has confirmed that it will be globally available (magnetic Corsair EX400U 1 TB curr. $109.99 on Amazon).
