Apparently there is great demand for dual-SIM phones in the US, and Apple intends to add this feature to its 2018 iPhones, along with improved LTE speeds. According to KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could boost the LTE speeds in the gigabit range by using a combo made of Intel XMM 7560 and Snapdragon X20 LTE chips. Apple might not be the first to introduce gigabit LTE speeds, as there already are 1 Gbps downlink smartphones from Samsung on the market. The gigabit LTE feature should be paving the way for the larger adoption of the upcoming 5G standard.
The dual-SIM option might come at a premium, so it will probably end up on the OLED models announced a week ago, which also feature the bezel-less display that resembles the one found on the iPhone X. These new models are probably the equivalent of the S models from the past, as they are also expected to cost less than the iPhone X flagship.
