The game emulation scene on Android is progressing rapidly, and while the platform already has multiple Nintendo Switch emulators, it has now become a bit easier to install one as Eden is now available on the Google Play Store.

Nintendo Switch emulation on Android isn't new, as after Yuzu got shut down, there were many notable forks of it for the mobile platform. However, while Yuzu was available on the Google Play Store, its forks didn't make a proper debut on Android's storefront. Well, that changes with Eden Emulator.

The developers behind Eden Emulator have just made the Nintendo Switch emulator for Android available on the Google Play Store. Of course, the version on the storefront isn't the latest one, but the team has promised to offer the v0.0.3 update soon on the marketplace.

This Google Play Store debut makes it a bit easier for most Android users to get a Nintendo Switch emulator installed on their phones. After all, most of Yuzu's forks require sideloading, and not many are comfortable with going that route.

For those unfamiliar with the emulator, just like the latest version number suggests, Eden is still in its earliest days. However, as Sudachi's developer notes, it's a Yuzu fork that offers "real, significant changes." To be specific, version 0.0.3 fixed a handful of bugs and offered noticeable performance boosts.

In addition, the latest version of Eden Emulator brings support for Hollow Knight: Silksong, a metroidvania game that has been breaking charts. Now, while the emulator's presence on the Google Play Store is a big plus for visibility, this app store debut may act like a double-edged sword.

That is, this higher visibility could make the Switch emulator fall under Nintendo's radar sooner rather than later. If that happens, Eden's fate could be just like Yuzu's.
