The NeoPow X25 is a powerful power bank with a rugged design that supposedly keeps it safe even when heavily damaged. The gadget also has a built-in light and can be recharged quickly.

Power banks that use lithium carry a certain risk even when discharged, as the lithium can react with oxygen in the air in an exothermic and potentially explosive kind of way. The NeoPow X25 is a new power bank featuring a solid-state battery that is designed to prevent such failures even with severe physical damage.

The manufacturer advertises this feature by driving a nail through the battery. The gadget is built to withstand drops from about 4 ft and comes with an IP54 rating. It can be used in temperatures well below freezing, specifically between - 20 and 60°C.

Air travel-safe capacity and high output

The power bank further has a capacity of 98Wh, so the NeoPow X25 can be put in the carry-on luggage when traveling via air. It weighs 1.4 lbs and measures 5.9 x 5.4 x 0.9 inches. The device is rated for over 2,000 charging cycles, after which it should still retain a substantial amount of its original battery capacity. The maximum total output is listed as 285 watts. Two USB-C ports can deliver up to 140 watts, a third USB-C output supports 27 watts and the USB-A port can supply up to 60 watts. Wireless charging is available at up to 15 watts. The power bank itself can be recharged at up to 140 watts.

Flashlight and crowdfunding discount

Meanwhile, an integrated LED flashlight can provide up to 450 lumens. As part of the ongoing Kickstarter campaign, the solid-state power bank can be reserved for $169. That said, potential buyers should be aware of the financial risks associated with all crowdfunding campaigns. Since this is a new company, the risk might be relatively high in this particular case.
