Murena 3.6 comes with improved search and software center enhancements

Those looking for a Google-free mobile operating system for their smartphone or tablet that still offers a core based on Android don't have too many choices nowadays, but having such a software environment at one's disposal is not a costly or impossible task, either. One such effort is Murena's /e/OS, which has just been updated to version 3.6. While the most important part is that this marks the entry of this piece of code in the Android 16 realm, there are quite a few other changes worth mentioning.
Without further ado, these are some of the highlights coming with the Murena 3.6 update:
- The latest fixes and security updates found in LineageOS 23.0.
- The browser has been updated to version 145.0.7632.159.
- AOSP 16 security patches as of March 2026.
- The ability to sign in with the microG account directly from App Lounge.
- Easier-to-navigate Camera app.
- Simplified enterprise enrollment since devices can now be provisioned directly from the First Time Setup Wizard.
The list of supported devices goes back in time to almost a decade ago, with handsets like those in the Google Pixel 4 lineup, but Murena 3.6 also supports more recent devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and the Google Pixel 9 family. Those who don't want to bother installing the operating system can also grab one of the several preinstalled handsets currently for sale, which can be found on this page.
