Motorola reveals new 5G mid-range smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset for under $200
The Moto G 5G (2024) has arrived as a cheaper alternative to the Moto G Power 5G (2024) that Motorola has also introduced today. As such, the former has weaker hardware in some areas, such as its Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. For reference, Qualcomm released the 6 nm chipset in late 2022 with two Cortex-A78 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores and an Adreno 619 GPU; please see our Redmi Note 12 5G review for more details.
Additionally, the Moto G 5G (2024) find itself with 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of expandable storage and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18 W wired charging. Meanwhile, Motorola has installed a 6.6-inch and 720p IPS display (1,612 x 720) that matches the Moto G Power (2024) with a 120 Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the handset has 50 MP primary, 8 MP front-facing and 2 MP auxiliary cameras, all of which are downgrades on the equivalents in the Moto G Power 5G (2024) to some extent.
Predictably, the Moto G 5G (2024) will ship with My UX based on Android 14. According to Motorola's press release, the device will be available on March 21 in the US and May 2 in Canada. So far, the company has only revealed US pricing, which it has set at $199.99, $100 less than the Moto G Power 5G (2024).
