Motorola launches new 200MP camera phone with bright 144Hz AMOLED display

Motorola has officially unveiled the Edge 70 Plus at IFA 2026, and it's positioned as an upper-mid-range phone. The camera setup is one of the highlights of the device, with the primary camera being a 200MP sensor.

This 200MP camera has OIS and an f/1.8 aperture, but it's paired with a 2MP macro sensor, which won't really do much. A wide-angle camera would have made the phone stand in a better spot in terms of photography. There's also a 3-in-1 dedicated light sensor on the rear and a flash module, all housed within the rectangular camera island.

On the front, the Edge 70 Plus features a 32MP selfie camera, and it's housed in a centered punch-hole cutout. Display-wise, the phone comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 2,772x1,272 pixels resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness rating of 5,200 nits.

The company highlights that there's support for HDR10 and HDR10+, meaning that the display will be good for entertainment. With Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the phone should feel snappy for everyday tasks, and this upper-mid-range SoC is also good enough for light to moderate gaming.

There's a dual-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos, and Motorola notes that the phone has support for wired Hi-Res Audio. Other highlights include 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, an IP64 water resistance rating, and a 6,500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging and bypass charging )(1-feet 240W Anker USB-C cable curr. $13.99 on Amazon).

Motorola's new Edge 70 Plus is set to be available in select regions of Europe and the Middle East in the coming weeks. In the EU, the base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs €529, while the upper-end option with 256GB of storage will go for €599.
