Motorola Edge (2022) press renders leak for September-bound smartphone
@OnLeaks claims to have obtained official press renders for the Motorola Edge 2022, just under a year after the company announced the Edge (2021). Presumably arriving later this month or in early September, the Edge (2022) builds on its predecessor's design while adopting the look of modern Moto G smartphones.
Accordingly, the Edge (2022) has three rear-facing cameras with a 50 MP primary sensor in a 160.8 x 74.2 x 8.2 mm chassis. Incidentally, Motorola has printed 'OIS' on the device's camera housing, confirming that the primary camera will be optically stabilised. Also, the Edge (2022) offers a centred punch-hole front-facing camera within a flat display. Predictably, the Edge (2022) has a USB Type-C port and no 3.5 mm jack.
Separately, Pricebaba mentions that the Edge (2022) will rely on the MediaTek MT6879, a long-rumoured chipset. For reference, Evan Blass claimed in June that the Motorola 'Victoria' would also utilise this unreleased SoC. However, Blass stated that the Motorola Victoria would be available in two variants, neither with a 50 MP primary camera. Instead, Edge (2022) is thought to be 'Dubai+', a device that also leaked in June.
