While most users of Samsung, HTC, and LG handsets are still waiting to get their first Android 5.0 Lollipop updates, most Google devices already got Android 5.1. The latest one to get this update is the Moto G Google Play edition, a budget-friendly handset that became available for purchase in the US back in mid-January 2014.
According to Android Police, the Google Play edition Moto G smartphone got the OTA update to Android 5.1 Lollipop yesterday and, since such updates roll out in stages, impatient users who did not receive the update notification automatically can download and flash the firmware file manually.
The same source reveals that Google's handset new firmware is LMY47M and has 171 MB in size. There is nothing special to say about its features, as the Moto G Google Play edition offers a stock Android experience. This is the first Google Play edition device to get Android 5.1 for now, but the others should get it soon enough as usual.
