Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance set for 2027 launch

Following its major live showcase at Summer Game Fest 2026, Capcom has officially unveiled the first massive expansion for its hit action RPG: Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. Scheduled for a worldwide release in 2027, this large-scale expansion will introduce Master Rank quests, brand-new hunting mechanics, and a breathtaking new ecosystem to explore.
Sights set on the clouds
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance advances the story of the Forbidden Lands, but shifts the Expedition Team’s focus dramatically upward. The expansion introduces a high-altitude locale known as the Eastlands, where players will explore a treacherous network of islands floating entirely amongst the clouds.
To match the challenges of this highly vertical environment, hunters will gain access to the Boost Bracer... a major new piece of utility that expands their combat options. The Boost Bracer allows players to wield explosive new abilities and unleash devastating new attacks, fundamentally evolving the baseline combat loops for a faster, more dynamic hunting experience.
The return of Master Rank and Elder Dragons
As a definitive G-Rank style expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is built to challenge veteran players by blowing the difficulty ceiling wide open. The core loop introduces grueling Master Rank quests, driven by the sudden, terrifying emergence of powerful Elder Dragons. According to Capcom, the sheer presence of these legendary creatures is enough to bring about catastrophic environmental destruction, forcing players to adapt to entirely new tactical threats in the sky.
Platform availability and requirements
Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is being natively developed for current-generation systems, locking in its release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Cross-play functionality will be fully supported across all three ecosystems at launch.
Players looking to take to the skies should note that a copy of the base game is strictly required to play, and the core story campaign must be fully completed to access the expansion's content.
Official digital storefront wishlists are now active on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox networks, with Capcom currently offering deep discounts on the base game to help newcomers prepare for the 2027 hunt.
While Capcom’s hunting division is actively mapping out its strategy for the skies, the publisher’s survival horror teams are equally busy dominating the 2027 calendar. Following its own blockbuster reveal at Summer Game Fest, the highly anticipated Resident Evil Veronica remake has taken a major next step
