Zenless Zone Zero version 3.0 locks June 17 Steam release
HoYoverse has set the global launch of Zenless Zone Zero version 3.0, titled "A Sleepwalker’s Confession," for June 17, 2026. The major update introduces a significant shift in the game's distribution strategy, breaking away from client isolation to launch on Steam on day one.
The Steam version arrives with full cross-platform progression and cloud saves, allowing players to jump between existing accounts on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile. To support the Steam launch, the PC engine is getting a graphics pipeline upgrade that adds native, real-time global illumination via ray tracing, as well as DLSS Super-Resolution and Frame Generation architectures.
Navigating the sky island of Roscaelifer
Narratively, version 3.0 moves away from New Eridu's street-level grid to open Roscaelifer, an enigmatic restricted zone. The story sees the Proxies invited to this sky city by the Mayor of New Eridu to treat a mysterious Ether energy spiraling out of control in their bodies. Guided by Velina, the Administrative Director of the External Strategy Department, they arrive as transfer students and uncover a hidden power known as Pyrois.
The update also introduces three playable units: Velina debuts as an S-Rank Wind Anomaly agent whose kit triggers a unique Vortex effect. She is joined by Norma, an S-Rank Fire Stun technician from the Marcel Group utilizing a Preheated Chamber mechanic, and Pyrois, who arrives as a free Phaethon faction agent alongside a seasonal story outfit.
Permanent end-game modes and system optimizations
To streamline live-service pacing, version 3.0 deploys two permanent end-game modes. "Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip" tasks players with commanding Collaborator squads to repair the Central Computing Hub.
Annihilation Simulacrum arrives as a high-difficulty boss challenge. The mode removes all elemental weaknesses and resistances, shifting the focus entirely to mechanical execution.
System optimizations also streamline daily loops. A new Drive Disc Smart Discard function allows batch processing of unwanted gear, while the Tuning interface automatically prioritizes compatible sets from active training plans.
This move also arrives as Wuthering Waves takes heavy performance strain on smartphone hardware with its latest release.
