Microsoft releases new 15-inch Surface Laptop with higher resolution display and more powerful processors

Microsoft has now complemented the Surface Laptop 8 for Business 15-inch with a consumer-oriented counterpart. Introduced last month, the 'for Business' variant leverages Intel's Panther Lake platform. At the time of writing, the business-focused variant is available with up to the Core Ultra X7 358H and 5G cellular connectivity.
By contrast, the standard Surface Laptop 8 is available with a 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus or a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite. On top of that, the new 15-inch Surface Laptop surpasses its predecessor (curr. $1,499 on Amazon) with a higher resolution display. Still IPS-based, the new panel outputs at 3,270 x 2,180 pixels with a 262 PPI density, compared to 2,496 x 1,664 pixels and 200 PPI on the Surface Laptop 7 generation. Also, the display delivers up to 600 nits peak brightness with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The Surface Laptop 8 15-inch starts at $1,699 in the US with a Snapdragon X2 Plus chispet, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. At the time of publication, Microsoft charges $100 extra for the Snapdragon X2 Elite with the same memory configuration. Meanwhile, pricing tops out at $3,649 with 64 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Black and Platinum shell finishes are available across all memory configurations.
