Microsoft launches its largest-ever Bing sweepstakes with a $1 million grand prize across six countries. The campaign integrates with Microsoft Rewards program, allowing users to earn up to 200 entries through platform engagement.

Microsoft is rolling out a big new sweepstake to tempt people to its Bing search engine, with a whopping $1 million in grand prizes up for grabs. This campaign kicked off on October 8 and aimed at users in six countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, and Puerto Rico.

This latest push builds on Microsoft's existing Rewards loyalty program, which already gives users points for using different Microsoft services and products. Once users sign up through the sweepstakes website, they get five entries right off the bat, and they can rack up as many as 200 entries by interacting more with the platform.

Microsoft isn't just offering the big prize, either; they've added two runner-up prizes of $10,000 each. On top of that, they're planning to donate up to $500,000, split between the World Wildlife Fund and UNICEF. For every participant who earns more than 50 entries, Microsoft will kick in $5 toward these causes.

This sweepstakes is Microsoft's way of boosting Bing's visibility, especially now that OpenAI's GPT-4 tech powers it for a more interactive, chat-like search experience. Even with these upgrades, Bing still has a lot of catching up to do to match Google's grip on the search market.

Folks already part of Microsoft Rewards can earn more entries by doing things like daily searches on Bing or using the Microsoft Edge browser. Usually, the Rewards program hands out smaller perks like Xbox Game Pass subscriptions or store vouchers, so this million-dollar prize is a major step-up to draw more people in.

This sweepstakes promotion underlines Microsoft's commitment to taking on Google's lead in the search engine space. Still, even with major cash on the table, Microsoft might have an uphill battle trying to shift people's long-standing loyalty to Google.
