Microsoft has had a blockbuster E3 with numerous exciting gaming announcements. One that will appeal to its long-time fan base will be the freshly baked Age of Empires II Definitive Edition that has been fully remastered to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its launch. The refresh brings high-res 4K Ultra HD visuals along with remastered audio to bring it into line with Age of Empires Definitive Edition which launched in 2017.
In total, the Age of Empires II Definitive Edition features over 200 hours of gameplay across 1,000 years of human history. Players can also compete online with 35 civilizations to choose from. As a special bonus, Microsoft has incorporated an all-new expansion called "The Last Khans" with 3 new campaigns and 4 new civilizations. The game will be available through Steam and the Windows 10 Store when it goes on sale this fall.
Microsoft is also inviting gamers to enrol in the beta version of Age of Empires II Definitive Edition via the Age of Empires homepage. Signing up to the Insider program will also deliver access to free custom missions from top creators while you can also create and share your own missions. The Insider forum will also give players the opportunity to learn more about the history behind the game and share tips with other Insiders.
