Microsoft has revealed the first teaser trailer for a next-generation version of its all-time classic PC game flight Simulator. The new version of the game is being built with native 4K HDR support and utilizes both GPS and Microsoft's Azure AI power to inject it with an unprecedented level of realism. This time around, the game is coming to Microsoft's Xbox platform as well as for PCs particularly given that 4K HDR support is a signature feature of the Xbox One X.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is the next generation of one of the most beloved simulation franchises. From light planes to wide-body jets, fly highly detailed and stunning aircraft in an incredibly realistic world. Create your flight plan and fly anywhere on the planet. Enjoy flying day or night and face realistic, challenging weather conditions.
Although Microsoft hasn't said anything yet about real-time ray tracing, the stunning level of detail apparent in the lighting effects in the embedded trailer suggests that it will support the feature. This would make it a prime candidate to launch alongside the officially announced Project Scarlett, Microsoft's next-generation gaming console -- Scarlett utilizes AMD's Navi graphics bringing support for hardware accelerated ray tracing. Flight Simulator is coming sometime in 2020, although Microsoft is accepting sign-ups for its Insider beta program to test it in advance.
