Microsoft Surface Pro with LTE Advanced now available for everyone
A new variant of the Surface Pro has appropriately surfaced for general consumption, and it offers LTE Advanced connectivity. Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is a high-speed wireless communication standard found in a number of mobile devices. Unsurprisingly, the device was marketed initially for business users who could find themselves frequently globe-trotting and would require a mobile office with speedy connection functionality. Notebookcheck already reported on this enterprise-only device that was released in December 2017. Now this version of the Surface Pro has been made available for private users to purchase.
The core specifications of this variant of the Surface Pro (2017) include an Intel Core i5 processor (the mid-range Surface Pro 2017 had an i5-7300U), a 256 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM and, according to a report, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon XLTE modem to provide LTE connectivity. This version of the device is currently priced at US$1449; there is a slightly cheaper model with 4 GB RAM that apparently costs US$1149.
Microsoft has stated that the device will start shipping on May 1, 2018. Discounts are being offered for eligible students, teachers, parents, and military.
