Microsoft is working closely with Razer to bring official support for keyboard and mouse input for the Xbox One. Long promised, but never delivered, the new partnership will give hardcore gamers the additional customization options that PC gamers enjoy from an input and control perspective.

Microsoft and Razer are officially working on a keyboard and mouse solution for gaming on the Xbox One. Set to launch before the end of the year, hardcore gamers will finally have the precision and custom control schemes that they have been longing for on the Xbox One. As launch partner, Razer's Chroma RGB keyboard lighting combinations will also be supported, but Microsoft will support a range of wired and wireless mice.

Importantly, Microsoft is placing a high priority on maintaining gaming balance in adding keyboard and mouse support to the Xbox One. This means that games will have the ability to detect when a keyboard and mouse is being used to provide input, which could mean that gamers could be matched only with other players using the same control methods. It would, however, be up to developers to implement these types of functions.

Assuming everything goes according to plan, Xbox gamers can expect the fall update to add the new keyboard and mouse functionality.
