Less than four months after the arrival of version 24.0 "Wynsdey," Manjaro Linux 24.1 is ready to be unleashed. Dubbed "Xahea," the arrival of the updated is imminent, as today's stable refresh removes the kernel with version 6.9 alongside many other changes. The new ISOs are expected to come out soon.

With a history of over one decade, Manjaro is regarded as one of the most user-friendly Linux distros suitable for both beginners and power users, being easy to install and use. Mostly developed in Austria, Germany, and France, this Arch-based distro has just received a series of stable package updates, and the proper release of version 24.1 is now a few days away.

According to the forum post about today's update (the link in the Source(s) section), the new set of package updates "marks the release of Manjaro 24.1 also to been known as Xahea," and the new ISOs should be expected to arrive "soon." For now, there is nothing more accurate than this. The list of changes that come with today's update includes Qemu 9.1, KDE Plasma 6.1.5 and KDE Gear 24.08.1, LibreOffice 24.8.1, Firefox 130.0, VirtualBox 7.1, ASUSCTL/ROG Control Center 6.0.12, as well as the removal of the 6.9 kernel.

Although version 6.9 has been removed (its predecessor, 6.8, has been taken out from the repository as well), there is a rather long list of kernels supported by Manjaro Linux. The oldest one is 4.19, and the most recent is 6.10.2_rt14.

While the Linux world is moving quite fast recently, the basics of the command line have been the same for decades. Those looking to learn the basics will enjoy Felix John's Linux: Linux For Beginners: Your Step By Step Guide Of Becoming A Linux Command Line Ninja even now, more than half a decade since it was published. This book comes for free with Kindle Unlimited ($2.99 to buy) and those who want it in paperback form must shell out $15.14.
