Model: The MSI GT72VR 7RE-487FR Dominator Pro Dragon Edition is a high-performance gaming laptop. Compared to the GT73, this GT72 has paid attention to its line, it is thinner than its elder, with a weight of 3.8 kg. The entire back shell is red aluminum with a very nice touch. The apparent dragon on the back of the screen will watch user with its white backlit eye. As always at MSI, the finish is really excellent: aluminum, the plastic of very good quality, perfect alignments and of course, the PC does not escape the fashion of the RGB. The front and the keyboard are customizable. The Taiwanese manufacturer entrusted the keyboard part to Steelseries. It is comfortable, the striking is precise and the hours of games do not scare the keyboard. The 17.3-inch Full HD screen benefits from a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is compatible with Nvidia's G-Sync technology. With the Matrix Display, a user can now use the latest surround view display technology to build the multi-display gaming experience with up to 4K resolution or multitask effectively by HDMI 1.4 and dual Mini Display-Port 1.2. (overall 4 monitors including notebook’s monitor on GT series.) As for hardware specification, there is an Intel i7-7820HK processor composed of 4 core at 2.90 GHz and a Turbo clock of 3.90 Ghz, accompanied by 32 GB of DDR4 clocked at 24.000 MHz. Obviously, it makes users want to play with the highest settings. In addition, the Nvidia GTX 1070 and its 8 GB of GDDR5X, all on a bus of 256 bits, is the sidekick dreamed to accompany this beautiful laptop.
Regarding storage, we are facing a hybrid storage SSD and hard drive. This model is well placed with speeds in the high average, no slowdown to report. All tests are done with PC on mains and ventilation in automatic mode. Regarding overclocking, it is done with the software pre-installed by MSI. The Cooler Boost 3 dual cooling system is developed for use with the next generation extreme performance mobile processors. Besides making sure system stays within thermal limits at all times during regular use, users can manually boost the cooling system by a simple key, located on the left side of the keyboard. This will maximize the cooling and ensure a chilly system, even during those marathon gaming sessions, regardless of how demanding the environment while still staying quiet. In terms of connectivity, nothing is missing. MSI has put the package to not be lacking USB. There are six USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB Type-C port, a card reader and even a DVD burner. Regarding video outputs, it has an HDMI output and a DP output. The audio part is not left over because there are two inputs and two outputs audio/microphone and finally an RJ45 port. The laptop is ready for the fight because it carries a complete connectivity.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile: Pascal based high-end mobile graphics card based on a cut down GP104 (like the GTX 1080) and GDDR5 graphics memory. Successor to the GTX 980M with a 10 Watts higher TDP. Similar to the desktop GTX 1070 performance wise, but with more shaders and lower clock speeds.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

i7-7820HK: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture running at 2.9 - 3.9 GHz. It is the second fastest model of the consumer H-series in the beginning of 2017. The chip also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU clocked at 350 - 1100 MHz and is manufactured in a 14 nm process (improved compared to Skylake). Compared to the Core i7-7820HQ, the 7820HK lacks business features like vPro or TXT support.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
3.78 kg:
Only a few laptops are in this weight class because the mobility is rather limited due to the high weight.
