Model: The MSI GP75 Leopard 9SD is a gaming laptop that comes straight from the bloodline of the legendary GP series. It comes as a roaring beast with sporty design and powerful performance. With the new GP series, users own the gaming world. Equipped with the latest 9th Intel Core i7 processor, which powers up with 10% performance gains over the previous generation, it certainly processes games swiftly. It also has the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, built with the breakthrough graphics performance of the award-winning NVIDIA Turing architecture. With performance that rivals the GeForce GTX 1070, it’s a blazing-fast supercharger for today’s most popular games, and even faster with modern titles. As for the display, it features a 144 Hz IPS-level thin-bezel gaming display for unprecedented speed and clarity. It claims to be the fastest gaming display, which brings users the most vibrant visuals so they never miss a beat. Besides that, users can expand the vision across multiple displays with HDMI and mini DisplayPort, and enjoy up to 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) resolution output at 60 Hz for some extra productivity and fun. The keyboard is a per-key RGB gaming keyboard by SteelSeries. Users can customize each key to their liking, receive real-time in-game status through keyboard lighting, or even watch the lights dance to their favorite tune. Developed under an exclusive partnership with BlueStacks, the MSI APP Player brings seamless gaming experience between mobile games and PC platform and leverages customized features such as specific keyboard lighting and better graphics with multi-task works.

Besides that, the MSI GP75 has a revolutionary cooling for enthusiastic gaming. It has Cooler Boost 5, which is a dedicated thermal solution for both the CPU and GPU with maximized 7 heat pipes ensuring ultimate performance under extreme gaming. User can also protect and prioritize networking traffic while preventing lag spikes to always game at their best with Killer gaming LAN. Gamers can easily manage bandwidth for each application with the user-friendly Killer Control Center. For audio, it has 5 times bigger speakers than others to deliver more resonance and higher quality audio. The all-new Nahimic 3 next level audio immersion also enhances in-game 3D surround sound and makes finite control over music, movies, and conference calls. For a laptop sound system, it is definitely in the high-end category. As a conclusion, the MSI GP75 Leopard 9SD is a high specification gaming laptop built for gamers. It is a gaming laptop at a slightly lower price tag but still delivers a decent performance. Users should not expect to game in 4K resolution on this laptop, but it will be able to play most modern titles in at least HD level.

Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops based on the desktop GTX 1660 Ti and therefore the Turing architecture without raytracing and Tensor cores. The performance of the Max-P variant should be similar to an older GTX 1070.

With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

i7-9750H: A high-performance hexa-core processor of the Coffee Lake product family designed for the larger laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.6 - 4.5 GHz (4 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++).» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.566 kg:

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

85.1%: This is an above-average rating. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that about one fifth of all tested models receive a better rating.
