The MSI GL75 checks all the right boxes for a 2019 mid-range gaming laptop. Features like a high-refresh rate display and a per-key RGB backlit keyboard are nice additions, but fan noise and coil whine spoil an otherwise adequate package.

Honestly, we can talk about it for quite a while, but the main thing we want to stress out is that this is a very reasonably priced machine. For this price, you get a lot of value. Enough, to cover up all of the shortcomings. At least in our opinion. If you want to check some similar notebooks, you can pay a visit to the Acer Helios 300 17 (2019) and the HP Omen 17 (2019) – both of them are more expensive than the GL75 but offer something in exchange.

MSI GL75 10SDR-222
The MSI GL75 10SDR-222 is the latest to join the MSI family. This laptop can be summarized as a large-screen gaming device with a rather decent price tag. In terms of the design, it is a known fact that the GL series always features a plastic body with a smooth matte finish. Therefore, this laptop carries similar features. The build quality is quite satisfactory, although the surface can be described as the neodymium magnet for fingerprints. However, it is worth noting that not everything is made from plastic, as the lid is made out of aluminium, which slightly enhances its resistance to flex. As for the weight, this laptop is obviously not the lightest 17-inch laptop out there, but it is still pretty easy to carry at 2.5 kg. On the other hand, the laptop is pretty thick at 28 mm. An obvious drawback of this device has to be the hinge mechanism, which is a bit too tight and prevents single hand operation.
As far as the keyboard is concerned, the MSI GL75 definitely has a pleasant keyboard with decent key travel and a satisfying click to the touch. There are also red backlights and full-sized “arrow” keys, which is a great feature, but since they are crammed between the NumPad section and the rest of the keys, there are high chances of wrong clicks. Apart from that, MSI features a trio of dedicated keys with very specific functions, including a Power button, a key that opens the Dragon Centre, and, finally, the one which blows away the heat out of the chassis when pressed. In addition, the GL75 features a pretty big touchpad with good gliding properties and very nice tracking. It also has dedicated mouse buttons.
In terms of connectivity, there is an RJ-45 Gigabit connector, followed by an HDMI port that supports 4K at 30 Hz, a Mini DisplayPort, a USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen. 1) port, a USB Type-C 3.1 (Gen. 2) port, and two audio jacks (one for a microphone and another one for headphones) on the left side of the MSI GL75. On the other side, there is the power plug, two USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen. 1) ports and an SD card reader. As for the display, the MSI GL75 is equipped with a Full-HD 120Hz IPS panel with the measured maximum brightness of 280 nits in the middle of the screen and 278 nits as an average for the whole area, with a maximum deviation of only 5%. In terms of its performance, this MSI laptop comes with an Intel Core i7-10750H CPU and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU along with a 51Wh battery for user convenience. Overall, this is a great device to be explored, depending on the need and preference of the user.

With the GL75 Leopard, MSI has a powerful 17.3-inch gaming laptop in its range that brings all modern games smoothly onto the responsive Full HD display (144 Hz, IPS). The rest of the equipment is also right: 16 GB of memory (dual-channel mode), an NVMe SSD, and a 1 TB HDD.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile: Mid range to high end laptop graphics card based on the Turing architecture with raytracing features and 1,920 shaders. Compared to the similar named desktop card it offers reduced clock rates.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops based on the desktop GTX 1660 Ti and therefore the Turing architecture without raytracing and Tensor cores. The performance of the Max-P variant should be similar to an older GTX 1070.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile: High-End laptop graphics card based on the TU106 chip with 2,304 shaders and 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM. Compared to the desktop variant, the GPU is clocked lower. The refresh version in April 2020 bears the same name, but is slightly higher clocked.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops that uses a Turing TU117 chip without raytracing and Tensor cores. Should be slightly faster than a GTX 1650, but is also available in different variants with a TGP ranging from 55 - 80 Watt (and two packages).

Intel Coffee Lake:
i7-9750H: A high-performance hexa-core processor of the Coffee Lake product family designed for the larger laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.6 - 4.5 GHz (4 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++).
Intel Comet Lake:
i7-10750H: A high-performance hexa-core processor designed for use in thicker laptops with room for better thermals. The Comet Lake-H processor is manufactured on the third-gen 14 nm Intel process and features a 24 EU UHD Graphics 630 iGPU clocked at 350 MHz to 1,150 MHz. The CPU cores run at 2.6 GHz (base clock speed) Boosting up to 5.0 GHz and the likely all-core Boost frequency is 4.3 GHz. Hyper-Threading is enabled, allowing two threads to run simultaneously on each core.
i5-10300H: Comet Lake architecture (4th gen of Skylake) based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates four processor cores clocked at 2.5 - 4.5 GHz (4.2 GHz for all 4 cores) with HyperThreading support.
