THQ Nordic's ongoing Pre-Summer Sale has brought The Guild II: Renaissance down to $1.99 on Steam — an 80% discount off its regular $9.99 price tag. The deal runs through June 25, 2026, and matches the game's two-year low, though SteamDB shows the all-time historical low sits at $0.99 with a 90% cut, so if you can wait, bigger discounts have happened before (nothing recent though).

Still, $1.99 for this one is pretty hard to argue with. The Guild II: Renaissance is a 2010 medieval sandbox from Runeforge Game Studio that features dynasty management, economy simulation, trading, and light RPG elements. The game takes all that and moulds it into something that doesn't quite fit into any single genre box. You start as a commoner in 14th-century Europe, build a trade business or criminal operation, and gradually try to seize political and economic control of an entire city — across multiple generations of your family.

The game lets you choose from a range of playstyles: thief, trader, blacksmith, and more, each with different storylines and random encounters. The main goal is to dominate your city's economy while dealing with rival dynasties through commerce, politics, or outright sabotage.

With around 4,000 Steam reviews averaging roughly 82.8 out of 100, it holds up surprisingly well for a 15-year-old title. Recent reviews are even better — 92% positive among the last 30 days of user reviews — meaning the game has found a renewed audience, possibly helped by Runeforge's continued patch support.

Players reportedly clock around 133 hours across the main content, which makes the $1.99 ask almost laughable in terms of value. The game does have a steep learning curve and demands a fair bit of micromanagement, so it does reward patience, but if you like medieval life sims, political sandboxes, or anything adjacent to Crusader Kings, you will likely find plenty to dig into here.
