The Steam Autumn Sale 2025, running from September 29 to October 6, offers the perfect chance for console gamers transitioning to PC to build their first library.

Steam's Autumn Sale is just around the corner, from September 29 to October 6, 2025. If you've been a console gamer for years, the idea of switching to a gaming PC or laptop might feel overwhelming… but you're not alone in this transition. Yes, I shall be moving away from console gaming as the Lenovo LOQ 16RH8 shall be landing on my desk soon.

The last time I ventured into PC gaming was back in the day when games like Leisure Suit Larry, SOLDAT, and The Sims were still popular… So, yes, it’s been a while. As such, I have been going through Steam’s Autumn Sale to select a few games that would not only offer a better experience than their console counterpart, but also PC exclusives I have been dying to play.

The selected titles were chosen not only for quality and potential discounts but also for the unique advantages PC gaming provides... from mod support and graphical fidelity to controls and UI that were designed first and foremost for a PC/laptop experience.

Why the Steam Autumn Sale is great for new/old PC gamers

For new PC/laptop owners, major sales events like the Steam Autumn Sale are the perfect opportunity to build a library of games without diving deep into your budget.

It's also a chance to acquire definitive editions of games with all the DLC included, explore various genres that have been underrepresented on consoles, as well as experience titles that have really benefited by the power of PC/gaming laptop hardware.

Deals to look out for during the sale

Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been praised as one of the defining PC RPGs of the decade. With its tactical, turn-based combat and dense role-playing systems, the game thrives on the precision of mouse-and-keyboard input. Players also benefit from extensive mod support, with the community introducing everything from new classes and subclasses to quality-of-life adjustments. For a new PC gamer, this is a title that highlights exactly why certain genres remain at home on the desktop.

Cyberpunk 2077

I’ve played Cyberpunk 2077 on console, but the PC version promises a completely different level of immersion. Path Tracing is said to make Night City feel more alive than ever, and with mods ranging from visual overhauls to gameplay changes, I can’t wait to see how different the experience feels.

Total War: WARHAMMER III

Strategy games like this are basically built for PC, and this is one genre I’ve never truly been able to enjoy on console. Managing huge armies, navigating vast maps, and making quick tactical calls are things I’m eager to finally try with a proper mouse and keyboard setup.

Red Dead Redemption 2

I’ve spent plenty of hours in RDR2 on console, but I’ve heard the PC version takes it to a whole new level. Higher frame rates, ultra graphics settings, and even mods that add new content are all reasons I’m looking forward to experiencing Arthur Morgan’s journey again.

Hades

Fast, fluid combat has always been the core of Hades, and while I’ve enjoyed it on console, I imagine the game will really shine on a gaming laptop with a high refresh rate. The crisp visuals and responsiveness should make every run feel even more satisfying. Additionally, Hades 2 has just been released... so it's the perfect excuse to pick up both.

Disco Elysium – The Final Cut

Disco Elysium has been described as one of the greatest narrative RPGs ever made. Since it’s heavily text-driven, I think playing it on a high-resolution screen with a mouse will make it more immersive. I’m looking forward to finally experiencing its branching dialogue and deep role-playing elements in their natural PC habitat.

Building a Steam library with intent

Even just the scent of massive discounts can lead to an infinite backlog of unplayed games. For new PC/laptop gamers, the best strategy during the Steam Autumn Sale is to focus on intent. Prioritize titles that offer a distinctly different or superior experience than what was possible on a console.

A wishlist should not just be a list of wants, but a curated plan to explore the unique strengths of your hardware. By focusing on PC-centric genres and experiences, you can build a library that is not just bigger, but likely far better.
