Shortly after shadow dropping its DLC (Overture), developer Neowiz has announced Lies of P has sold over 3 million copies so far. That is an impressive figure, especially for its first Souls-like attempt, which many argue, is just as good as the source material. Making a Bloodborne-Sekiro hybrid is difficult, but Neowiz nailed it on the first attempt.
The company also made Lies of P more 'accessible' by introducing difficulty sliders, something that isn't often found on Souls-like titles. Many argue this diminishes the experience, but in this case, the default (Legendary Stalker) difficulty may have taken things too far. Numerous players have complained the game feels overly challenging after the Overture update, and a new patch has been rolled out to address it.
Its sequel is already in the pipeline using the dreaded Unreal Engine 5. We may have to wait a while before it shows up, but we can rest easy knowing the franchise won't be abandoned outright. Lies of P left some questions unanswered for the sequel, which might feature a whole new protagonist. If you're on the fence about this and a fan of Souls-likes, definitely give it a go. It's full-price on Steam now but it often gets discounted.
