CES 2017 | Lenovo: New Miix 720 2-in-1 against Surface Pro 5 & Co.
Aside from the new Legion gaming laptops and the ThinkPad X1 lineup, Lenovo introduced another PC today: The Miix 720. This model was leaked some time ago already.
With the Miix 720, Lenovo is giving its Miix 700 2-in-1 a huge performance upgrade, because Lenovo not only uses Kaby Lake CPUs, they are also using the more powerful 15 W U-CPUs. This means the system is much faster and on par with the Surface Pro tablets now, the Miix 700 still used the slower 4.5 W CPUs of the Y-Series (Core M). On the flipside, using 15 W CPUs means the system has an active cooling system with a fan now.
The display also gets an upgrade compared with the older model: Instead of QHD (2,160 x 1,920), the Miix 720 utilizes a QHD+ (2,880 x 1,920) IPS-display in the same 3:2 format. According to Lenovo, the display has a brightness of 400 cd/m². Not only the display is new, the pen is also different: Lenovo will equip the Miix 720 with the new Lenovo Active Pen 2, which is based on Wacom AES technology and delivers 4096 levels of pressure-sensitivity.
In contrast to the Miix 700, the Miix 720 has Thunderbolt 3. Also, it has an option for a Windows Hello camera, the keyboard-cover now has a backlit keyboard and a Precision touchpad.
The Miix 720 is going to be available in April in two colors, Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey. It will start at 999 Dollar.
