It’s always easy to pick fault with budget laptops, and although the IdeaPad G570 lacks some of the niceties of other models here, it has it where it counts. For a very tempting price it packs Core i3 performance into an unusually refined laptop.

We believe the Lenovo G570 would make a good general use notebook to have around the house if you are in need of a lower-priced notebook. The combination of its performance, keyboard and touchpad, solid build quality of its chassis and battery life cover all the grounds to make it a decent system. The complaints we did have about the display and slower hard disk drive will not be big enough deterrents for people if they simply want to own a decently solid secondary or budget-priced notebook. There is also an extensive amount of ports for an entry-level notebook, including more than enough USB 2.0 ports, e-SATA, VGA, HDMI, and a media card reader. The G570 is available now through Lenovo and select retailers, starting at the Web price of $449.

The Lenovo G570 offers a solid computing experience, but it's not our favorite 15-inch laptop. For $749, you get a comfy typing experience, strong overall performance, and one of the fastest boot times we've seen on a Windows machine. However, the smudge-prone lid is a turn-off, and you don't get USB 3.0. For about the same price, the HP Pavilion dv6t offers a more stylish metal design, discrete graphics, and Beats audio to boot. The Lenovo G570 is worth a look, but you can do better.

When you think of Lenovo and its iconic ThinkPad laptop line, a huddle of "B" words likely come to mind: "boring," "black," "business," and "big bucks." But not every laptop from Lenovo has these attributes. Strong performance, sturdy design, and big audio: The 15.6-inch G570 is a smart choice in a home laptop for those on a budget.

The Lenovo G570 M51BPUK has a nice keyboard, an appreciated Blu-ray drive and generous RAM and hard drive allocations. However, this version of the Lenovo G570 doesn’t quite enough 3D oomph to win an award. Read our full review to find out more.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

2.6 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
2.6 kg:
74.22%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
